Get Help
Everyone faces challenges at some point in life, and sometimes those challenges can make it difficult to meet basic needs like putting food on the table. Whether it’s due to job loss, health issues, unexpected expenses, or other hardships, needing a bit of help is nothing to be ashamed of. If you’re going through a difficult time, know that you’re not alone—and support is available. The Oromocto food bank is here to provide nutritious food and, in some cases, clothing or essential items to help ease the burden. Reaching out for assistance is a brave and important first step toward getting back on your feet.
We are a non-profit organization and proud to be a member in good standing with FeedNB, formerly the Food Depot Alimentaire and Food Banks Canada.
If you’re experiencing a difficult time and need support, we’re here to help. Our emergency food services typically include a Food Hamper available once per month. Each hamper provides approximately one week’s worth of groceries, including milk, eggs, bread, fresh produce, canned goods, and dry staples.
If you have mobility challenges or are unable to visit us in person, please give us a call — we’ll do our best to find a solution that works for you.
If you are visiting the food bank for the first time,
please bring the following:
Photo ID
Driver’s License or Passport
Proof of Address
Rent receipt, electricity bill, etc.
NB Medicare Cards
for each member of your household.
Please also take note of our client service hours before coming in. No appointment is necessary.
When you arrive, you’ll have a brief screening interview, after which eligible individuals and families may receive emergency food assistance once per month. The amount and type of food provided depends on what we have available at the time. However, every client will receive milk, bread, and eggs as part of their monthly visit.
During your first visit, we’ll also explain the additional services we offer. These may include income tax assistance, cooking classes, and the Community Food Smart program. We’re committed to offering support in a way that is compassionate, respectful, and dignified for everyone who walks through our doors.
While our client service days are scheduled at specific times, the food bank remains open during regular business hours to:
- Prepare for service days
- Accept monetary and food
- Provide additional support services to the community
We’re here to help with compassion and care, and we thank you for reaching out.
